Abstract

Recognition of maltreatment in day-care settings has generally been limited to that of sexual abuse. Various other forms of maltreatment can and do occur, occasionally under the guise of curriculum. Forms of day-care maltreatment are described as are the conditions likely to create a context for abuse and neglect. Potential impact of day-care maltreatment is discussed, and practice and policy implications developed.
