"Kids Aren't Like They Used to Be"
Nostalgia and Reality in Neighborhood Life
Abstract
The residents of a small bounded neighborhood in a rural town express a powerful and nostalgic connection between the ideas of childhood and neighborhood. However, this connection is not evident on the practical level of children's lives here today. Present realities are examined in the context of the neighbors' ideals, sentiments, and past experience.
