An Activity House at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario

Rain or Shine, Outdoors is Fine

Abstract

In 1986, during the Children's Miracle Telethon, an activity house was built on the playground at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). The house was built by volunteers from alocal club. All time and materials were donated. The activity house has expanded and enriched Child Life programming at CHEO. It has been especially significant for use with long term and psychiatric patients, providing normalization opportunities which are difficult to achieve in an acute care setting.
