The study described is an exploration of the potential of urban agriculture projects in improving the lives of marginalized youth in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The study employed various participatory approaches to research, and speaks to the importance of meaningfully engaging young participants in the process of research so as to ensure that their voices and experiences are heard, rather than having an adult researcher observing, interpreting and speaking on their behalf.
