Prevention of Child and Adolescent Injury Federal Initiatives and Service Trends
Abstract
Because injury is the leading cause of death among children and a major cause of disability, the Federal Maternal Child Health Bureau has made the prevention of injury a major priority. Much has been learned in the past decade about injury prevention, and this information is being widely disseminated. With public recognition that injuries are preventable and with the dedicated efforts of many individuals representing diverse fields, the lives of thousands of children can be saved.
