Children's experiences with vegetation
Abstract
Children's early contact with vegetation may play a part in the formation of their environmental dispositions. This question is examined aspart of a multivariate analysis by recording the past experiences with vegetation of 845 eight to eleven year-old children and descriding them according to gender, age, and socio-economic status. Children's attitudes tovegetation and their environmental dispositions (CERI) are measured and correlated. The results indicate thathe variety and enjoyment of past experiences with vegetation contribute positively to children's general attitude tovegetation and their "Pastoralism" score and negatively to their score on "Human Dominance Over Nature.
