Abstract

The documentation of the development and conduct of adult administered and planned activities for children in water environments is necessary if protection from risk of injury is to be accomplished. The risks involved are of a dual nature; 1) the risk of loss of human life due to incompetently planned and executed programs and 2) the risk of financial loss due to legal suit. Assistance in organizing documentation of the process of planning and administering a program is outlined. It is a comprehensive approach to the control of risk and is based on strong indications found within the literature for a new and emerging precedent. The topics covered are limited to the planning phases of programming for children in the aquatic environment.
